The company founders gathered extensive experience in robot task model generation on different levels of task abstraction from 2002-2012 as undergraduate and graduate researchers in various national and collaborative international research projects at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Humanoids and Intelligence Systems Lab. A clear understanding of the obstacles and limitations concerning contemporary task models in robotics led to the exploration of innovative ideas . Numerous research prototypes were developed and tested on real service robot applications.
The founders recognized the commercial potential of intuitive robot programming for complex industrial manipulation tasks. While winning several awards and scholarships, the company ArtiMinds Robotics GmbH was founded in July 2013 and product development for ArtiMinds RPS began from scratch.
Public world premiere of a demonstrator of the RPS software and its capabilities at Automatica 2014. Despite having been founded only 11 months previously and still in semi-stealth mode, ArtiMinds was awarded 2nd place by a robotics industry specialist jury as one of the most promising robotics startups and won the ESA BIC Start-up Award.
During the first months of 2015, selected external beta testers received their copy of ArtiMinds RPS for testing on real robot applications. After positive feedback, software sales started in several countries.
Just in time for the turn of the year, ArtiMinds moved out of it’s rooms at KIT. The new office, located at Technologiepark Karlsruhe, facilitates the rocketing grow of the company.
Through all of 2016 ArtiMinds has kept growing and advancing: By winning not one but two national awards (Focus Digital Star Award and StartMeUp Award of the Bilanz Magazine) the company has stayed in the center of attention at fairs and exhibitions. With the team growing in numbers and experience, ArtiMinds releases version 1.3 with new and extended features of the Robot Programming Suite. The software is now being used by an increasing range of industries and for a number of different applications by companies all over the world, automating our world.
